Guangzhou’s metro and intercity trains mostly stop running by around 11 p.m. If your flight lands late or leaves early, staying at the airport itself becomes a real option — and since 2025 and 2026, that option has changed completely. Terminal 1 closed for good in May 2026. Terminal 3 opened in stages from October 2025, and two new hotels opened directly inside it the same month T1 shut down. Which hotel group you’re choosing from comes down to one thing: T2 is Accor territory (Pullman and Novotel), and T3 is now Hilton territory (Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn).

Step 1: Confirm your terminal first
T2 and T3 are about 16 km apart and don’t share a public transport link you can use casually — see my T2/T3 to the city guide for the full breakdown. Know your terminal before you pick a hotel; a hotel that’s a 2-minute walk from T3 does you no good if you’re flying from T2.
Step 2: T2 means Accor — Pullman or Novotel

It’s smaller, at 268 rooms, and sits a step down from Pullman in Accor’s own brand tiers — Pullman is the upscale brand, Novotel the mid-range one.

One thing to flag: several of Novotel’s own listings still describe it as sitting “between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2” — a leftover from before T1 closed in May 2026. I have not been able to confirm whether the shuttle route or the walk itself changed once T1 stopped taking passengers, so if the exact distance matters to your plans, I’d confirm with the hotel directly before booking.
Step 3: T3 means Hilton — the full hotel or the Garden Inn
Hilton Guangzhou Baiyun Airport (237 rooms) and Hilton Garden Inn Guangzhou Baiyun Airport opened on May 19, 2026 — right as T3 absorbed all of T1’s old airlines. Both connect to the terminal by an indoor bridge walkway, and both run a free shuttle bus to T2 for anyone who needs it.

As with the Accor pair at T2, this is the same full-service/mid-range split: Hilton is the fuller brand, Hilton Garden Inn the more streamlined one. They put the city center at about 40 minutes away and mentions access to Metro Line 3, which lines up with the intercity-rail route I cover in the T2/T3 access guide.

If your onward plans include the Canton Fair, this is worth knowing: the East Ring Intercity Railway that stops at T3 also runs to Pazhou station, right by the fair’s venue. I don’t have a confirmed travel time for that specific leg, so I won’t call it a guaranteed time-saver — but it is one more option worth checking against your usual route in before you book a taxi.
A note on airside options
Seems T2 has Aerotel Guangzhou, a 57-room hourly-rate hotel inside the secured international departure area — a boarding pass for an onward flight is required to book it, and it exists purely for people who never leave the terminal.
As of my research in September 2026, I could not find an equivalent airside hotel at T3. Several hotel listings use “T3” in their names, but they’re ordinary hotels outside the airport, a 10-25 minute walk or drive from the terminal, not secured-area properties. If you’re staying airside at T3 without clearing immigration, I don’t currently have an option to point you to.

I would look elsewhere if you’re hoping for a night in central Guangzhou rather than a functional stopover — none of these hotels are meant to be a destination in themselves, and all four sit well outside the Tianhe CBD.
